Milwaukee Packout DIY MODs

The Milwaukee Packout Compact Tool Box is affordable, portable, and modular. Most importantly it can be MODIFIED.

Packout Wheel Dolly MOD

Milwaukee Packout Compact Tool Box Dolly MOD

One of the easiest MODs you can do to your Packout Compact Tool Box is make it slide.

Milwaukee only makes a wheel dolly for the larger Packouts and its expensive. For this modification all you need is a $20 Packout Compact Wall Plate and a 18”x12” wooden wheel dolly. You can purchase a wheel dolly at most local hardware/tool stores or you can pick one up here on Amazon.

Simply screw down the Compact Wall Plate to the dolly and you’re all set. Now you can latch the Packout to the wall plate and get your roll on.

Packout Seat Cushion MOD

The next logical step is to add a nice seat cushion to your sliding Packout Compact Tool Box. For this modification you can buy a seat cushion along with some Packout cleats from Amazon.

You could make your own seat if you prefer to use nicer memory foam material and if you have a 3d printer you can print out your own Packout cleats/feet using this 3D printed STL model.

Mount your cleats/feet to the seat cushion and just like that you can interlock your seat to the top of the sliding Packout.

Magnetic Parts Tray MOD

One of the coolest things about Milwaukee Packout is the interlocking system which allow attachment of other Packouts and Packout Accessories. Milwaukee even has a tumbler with a base that turn locks into the top of any Packout. Electronsmith at https://3dprints.electronsmith.com/milwaukee-packout-turn-lock-accessories/ created a few different 3d printed magnetic tool holders that utilize the Milwaukee packout turn locking system.

We went one step further and slightly modified the Electronsmith STL to utilize an entire 4 inch magnetic parts tray which cut down on 3d printing. Our 3d printed modification allows you to glue the entire 4 inch magnet and metal bowl to the 3d printed part. We just had to peal the rubber off the magnet before gluing everything together.

If you want to start 3d printing mods for your Milwaukee Packouts, check out the Creality Ender 3 Max Neo. It can print smaller items up to 11.8 inch x 11.8 inch x 12.6 inch large items like packout inserts made by Jonah Pope. If you’re interested in the 3d printed file, check out our Milwaukee Packout YouTube playlist .

The Ultimate Packout Mod, the Stash Box

The last MOD also comes from Electronsmith at https://3dprints.electronsmith.com/stash-box-milwaukee-packout-compact-toolbox/ and its our favorite. It’s a 3d printed stash box that can be inserted into one of the empty corners of the Packout. The stash box stays in place with a pull out pin which can be screwed to the outside or inside of the Packout. Making any holes outside will ruin any potential warranty and adding the screw from the inside will disrupt the IP65 rating so do at your own risk.

You can fill up your stash box with a few longer items like Allen wrenches, long drill bits, or even some miscellaneous saw blades.
